Area Visitors

We are looking for Area Visitors to be our local contacts and to:

  • Visit a small number of applicants and beneficiaries at home
  • Prepare reports which help the Case Committee assess how the RMBF’s help can be most effectively allocated
  • Offer personal support where appropriate

Guidance and support to our Area Visitors is provided. If we already have experienced Area Visitors in your area, we may ask you to join our waiting list or explore if you might like to help in another way.

What our Area Visitors say:

David Starritt“I enjoy being a GP. We look at the whole patient, not just the presenting complaint but all the other systems that may be contributing to the overall picture. We look at how their problem interferes with their lives, their relationships and their work. And I really enjoy that.
So it is no surprise to find that I enjoy my work as an Area Visitor, meeting beneficiaries, and trying to form a picture of what is happening to them, and how it affects them, and what the practicalities are. I enjoy this, and I also feel privileged that these people will take me into their trust and tell me about themselves. And on top of all that, I feel good that I may have done some good.

You don't have to be a GP to be an Area Visitor, most doctors are caring individuals, and that is what counts most. If you're tempted to volunteer, do it. You will never regret it. It will improve your life.”

David Starritt, Area Visitor
